Young people love to play! This has always been the case since
the beginning of time. A ball of some make shape or form has probably
always been a part of that play. We in Ireland have developed
our own distinctive ball games; Hurling, Gaelic Football and Handball.
These are ancient games and a very important part of our cultural
heritage.
We, in the area now served by Moy Davitts, have a long and honorable
tradition of Gaelic games. The following chapters attempt to give
a flavour of that history.
This section of the website is still in the early stages of development
and there are many gaps in the story. Any information or corrections
would be appreciated so that the story can be told in its fullness.
In this way we might do justice to all those who have gone before
us and worked so hard to promote the games.
