1918 Bohola v Meelick
The first indication we have that sport flourished in Bohola is the
account of a football match played at Oldcastle between Bohola and
Meelick, and reported in the Western People of February 23, 1918.
Bohola ran out the winners of that contest on a final scoreline of
2 goals and 1 point to Meelick's 1 point. The scores, however, give
no indication of the brilliance of the match.
The Bohola team, which no doubt was slightly cosmopolitan, was M.D.
Clarke (captain), J. Conwell (goal), Paul O'Dwyer, G. Lyons, F. Duke,
Willie Golden, Bernie Durkan, A. King, Harry Clarke, P .J .Clarke,
M. Gates, Dinny Carroll, A. Durkin (Tony), R. Carroll and Frank McNicholas.
No doubt one or two of the above players were from Kiltimagh, and
F. Duke could possibly have been a policeman stationed in Bohola.
Some of the Meelick players were O'Doherty, Galvin, Rowley, Murphy,
Mulligan, McNally, Ludlaw, O'Neill and O'Dowd.

Here we have a Bohola camogie team from 1930 who reached
the final for two years in succession winning it in 1932.

6th from the left.
